lisa ... good post. First of all though "Curse of the Hippie Parents" was priceless!
Like I said before ... I agree with all the research you posted. Doing it another matter. It is especially easy to write a book about parenting, when you don't have kids jumping on the net getting advice from complete strangers. Worse when your kids are doing it and you don't know about it.
Everyone seems to agree with you that JW parenting is terrible. I'll have you know I turned out just fine. I admit I rebelled in my teen years but most worldly kids did too. Why does that seem like a foreign concept to all of you?

OK ... I don't have all the answers ... I thought love would be enough. Obviously your experience tells me that isn't so. If nothing else, don't pass this type of parenting on.

lisaBObeesa ... thanks for presenting all that information. It all sounds good on paper. Terrific if you can carry it out. In the end though, each of us is responsible for our parenting skills and hope for the best in the end.
I think love is the main ingredient ... and kids know if they are loved. Even if a parent does all the wrong things ... kids know if they are loved. I happen to think Filip's father loves him. He may have anger control issues ... but who of you don't have any flaws?

AlanF ... if you sincerely felt you were doing all you could to raise your child the best way you know how ... and you find out he/she is on the net asking total strangers for their opinions ... would that not alarm you? In this case, Filip, a child is here looking for answers. Your natural response is ... what do you expect, raising him in a minddeadening cult.
Before you take this tack, put yourself in Filip's fathers shoes. Without even knowing what he's up to, your child has actually brought strangers into your house. Do you condone this? Put the father's parenting skills aside too ... he has the right not to have his house invaded to satisfy a 15 year olds curiosity.
